Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin – the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia visited the Research Institute of the Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Trauma (The Roshal Clinic) on International Children's Day, where a party for little patients was held. More than 200 children took part in the event, organized by the Investigative Committee, the Children's Doctor Roshal Foundation and the Doctor Liza Charitable Foundation. The clowns congratulated the children, creating a kind and joyful atmosphere in each room of the clinic, and the holiday ended up with the illusion show.

Such events have become a good tradition for the patients of the Research Center. This year, the injured children from the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, Kharkovskaya Oblast and the Mariupol city also took part in it. In recent months, the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Trauma has received 28 wounded children, mostly with the severe injuries. Just last weekend, four small patients have been accepted by the Institute. At the same time, the Investigative Committee, together with the Russian Ministry of Defense, continue their work on the children’s evacuation.

“We have a unique experience in the wounded children treatment, during several decades, we are providing the round-the-clock help to the victims of traffic accidents, domestic injuries, and victims of various disasters,” said Valery Afanasyevich Mitish, the Head of the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Trauma. He added that today the staff of the Institute uses the accumulated experience in providing specialized surgical care in the treatment of wounded children.

Mrs. Natalia Avilova, the Head of the “Doctor Lisa” Charitable Foundation, reminded that since 2014, the foundation team, together with Mrs. Elizaveta Petrovna Glinka, has evacuated the wounded and seriously ill children to Russia for the treatment. “We still take care of many patients; we have been taking them to Moscow during all these eight years, for example, we take them for the re-prosthetics or examination check-ups. Over the past few weeks, there have been three dozen of new little patients in the fund, whom we were trying to provide with everything that was necessary, we are trying to adjust those families in Russia who have lost everything, who have no other place to go back to, and we are also trying to arrange such parties for children in clinics and rehabilitation center” added Mrs. N.S. Avilova.

Mr. A.I. Bastrykin noted that the children who arrived from Donbas have suffered a terrible tragedy; they have been literally rescued from the bombing. In Russia, the kids finally felt safe. The Head of the Committee underlined that the Investigative Committee is doing everything possible for them to continue their rehabilitation and recovery in proper conditions here, and to return to a normal life. Mr. Alexander Ivanovich added that the staff of Dr. Roshal's clinic is a heroic professional team and the Investigative Committee has many mutual years of cooperation. The result of such cooperation was the dozens of rescued children abused by the crimes.

The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee awarded the doctors with departmental medals "For Merit" and "For Assistance". Mr. V.A. Mitish, in his turn, thanked the Head of the Investigative Committee for the help in the children’s treatment and for the support in striving to make the kids’ lives better and happier.
