Criminal Cases Have Been Initiated Against a Number of Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated two criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use of prohibited means and methods in an armed conflict), in relation to servicemen of the 24th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yevgen Kurash, Serhiy Postupalsky, Roman Mamavko, Mykola Yanchey, the 25th separate paratrooper brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Kachanov, Roman Zabrodsky, Andriy Tkachuk, Dmytro Chernichenko, Emil Ishkulov, Volodymir Kapitula, the 30th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksander Zinevich, Mykola Perestupnyak, the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Dovbich, Serhiy Sirchenko, Dmytro Gerasimenko, Vyacheslav Bugaichuk, Oleksander Bondarenko, Miroslav Verkhovy, Artem Puchkov, Gennady Boyko.

According to the investigators, in the period from 15 to 16 June 2022, during the day, these servicemen gave and executed criminal orders for targeted artillery shelling of civilian infrastructure in the cities of Donetsk, Makeevka, Gorlovka, Dokuchaevsk and the settlements of Golmovsky, Krasny Partizan, Yakovlevka, Zemlyanka (the Donetsk People’s Republic), as well as in the cities of Stakhanov, Severodonetsk, Rubezhnoe, Irmino, Kirovsk, Pervomaisk and settlements of Krinichnoye and Nyrkovo (the Lugansk People’s Republic).

The shelling killed 13 civilians, including one minor, injured 29 civilians including five minors, damaged 59 civilian infrastructure facilities, including the buildings of a school, a boarding school, a kindergarten.

It has also been established that five civilians who were injured as a result of artillery shelling of settlements in the Lugansk People’s Republic in May and June 2022 turned to hospitals in the Lugansk People’s Republic for medical help.

The IC of Russia continues to identify units of Ukrainian armed formations and specific individuals of these units involved in crimes commissioned against civilians.
