The IC of Russia has initiated two criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare in an armed conflict) in relation to servicemen of the 24^th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yevgen Kurash, Serhiy Postupalsky, Roman Mamavko, Mykola Yanchiy; the 25^th separate paratrooper brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Kachanov, Roman Zabrodsky, Andriy Tkachuk, Dmytro Chernichenko, Emil Ishkulov, Volodymyr Kapitula; the 30^th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksander Zinevich, Mykola Perestupnyak; the 56^th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Dovbich, Serhiy Sirchenko, Dmytro Gerasimenko, Vyacheslav Bugaichuk, Oleksander Bondarenko, Miroslav Verkhovy, Artem Puchkov, Gennady Boyko.

According to the investigators, in the period from June 18 to June 19, 2022, during the day, these servicemen gave and executed criminal orders for targeted artillery attacks from heavy weapons on civilian infrastructure in the cities of Donetsk, Makeevka, Komsomolskoye and the settlements of Panteleymonovka, Bessarabka, Stepnoye and Mironovsky of the Donetsk People’s Republic, as well as in the cities of Pervomaisk, Severodonetsk, Krasny Luch and the village of Vrubovka of the Lugansk People’s Republic.

The shelling of the cities of Donetsk, Makeevka and Komsomolskoye, as well as the settlements of Panteleymonovka, Bessarabka, Stepnoye and Mironovsky injured 28 civilians, including 2 minors, killed 7 civilians, damaged 35 buildings and civilian infrastructure facilities.

The artillery shelling of the cities of Pervomaisk, Severodonetsk and Krasny Luch, as well as the town of Vrubovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic injured 19 civilians, killed 9 civilians, damaged 3 buildings.

Fifteen civilians who were injured as a result of artillery shelling of the city of Krasny Luch on June 16, 2022, turned to the hospitals of the Lugansk People’s Republic for medical help.

The IC of Russia continues to identify units of Ukrainian armed formations and specific individuals of these units involved in the shelling of civilians.
