A verdict is adjudicated to one of the "Imarat Kavkaz" terrorist group member

The evidence collected by the Main Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was recognized as sufficient to adjudge Mr. Turpal-Ali Dzeitov, a native of Ingushetia.

He was guilty of crimes, prescribed in  Part 2 Article 205.5 and Part 2 Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation  (terrorist group membership and participation in illegal armed group), Part 2 Article 205.2  of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for terrorist activity ),  Part 1.1 Article 205.1 and Part 4 Article 150 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (an involvement of a juvenile  commission of particularly serious crime – terrorist activity), Part 3 Article 222  and Part 3 Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (the Illicit trafficking in firearms, ammunition and explosives).

The investigation established that in summer 2019 Mr.Dzeitov, being committed to the radical religious movement, joined the proscribed terrorist group "Imarat Kavkaz" banned in the territory of the Russian Federation, led by Mr. Aslan Bjutukayev and Mr. Yunus Bunguyev, his Deputy. Being guided by the mentioned above person, Mr. Dzeitov was looking for new members to join a criminal gang. Fulfilling the instructions given to him, Mr. Dzeitov involved two of his nephews in terrorist activities, including one minor. On the social network he (Dzeitov) posted the information promoting another terrorist organization, banned in Russia, and its criminal activity methods.

In accordance with a verdict, Mr. Dzeitov was sentenced to 14 years  with the first 4 years in prison, and the rest - in high-security penal colony with deprivation of the right of being engaged in any activities related to the administration of websites and webpages using electronic or telecommunication networks, including the Internet for a period of 2 years, with the restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year and a fine of 200 thousand rubles.

Mr. Bunguev’s death occurred in August 2020 as a result of self-detonation of an improvised explosive device he had, while the attempt of being detained in the Nazran city.

On January 20, 2021, Mr. Byutukaev, who was on the international wanted list, together with the members of his gang, offered armed resistance to the law enforcement officers and were eliminated by the return fire on the territory of the Chechen Republic.

The investigation against other organizers, leaders and members of the terrorist group continues.
