Former Officers of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Accused of Abuse of Office to Be Interrogated in the IC of Russia

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues to investigate the criminal case against the former deputy heads of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Alexander Biryukov, Alexander Krakovsky and senior investigator for especially important cases of the second department for the investigation of organized criminal activity of the ID of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Alexander Bryantsev. They are accused of abuse of official powers (Part 3 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) by making unreasonable procedural decisions to change a measure of restraint from detention to house arrest for Khudoyan, a defendant in the criminal case, who was in Bryantsev’s proceedings, as well as the abolition of arrest on land plots, the theft of the right to lease of which was incriminated to Khudoyan. The latter was found guilty by a court verdict of committing a crime under Part 4, Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).

Investigators continue to build up the evidence base. As part of the ongoing investigative actions, documentation relevant to the investigation is being studied, interrogations are being conducted. Information indicating the presence of elements of a crime in the actions of the defendants is being carefully recorded. Taking into account the new data received on the circumstances of the crime committed, Krakovsky and Biryukov have been summoned to the Main Investigative Department for interrogations.

Measures are being taken for a further comprehensive legal assessment of the degree and role of participation of each accused in the act they are charged with.
