The investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Tomskaya oblast charged the former deputy governor of the region with organizing the embezzlement of budgetary funds on an especially large scale (part 3 of article 33, part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The criminal case was launched pursuant to the evidence provided by FSSD (Federal Security Service Directorate).

According to preliminary data, between August 2020 and November 2021, the defendant organized and monitored the embezzlement of funds on an especially large scale, committed by the director of one of the funds of the Tomskaya oblast, in the amount of at least 70 million rubles allocated from the regional budget as part of the national project "Education". The second person involved in the criminal case was also charged with embezzlement.

The former deputy governor of the oblast imposed a restraint as custody.

The set of required investigative actions aimed at identifying the circumstances of the crime are being carried out. Criminal investigation continues.
