The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia requests a progress report for the fire investigation in Moscow hostel

Mr. A.I. Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed Mr. A.A. Strizhov, Head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Moscow, to submit the progress report on the fire in Moscow. According to the investigation, on the night of July 29, 2022, a fire broke out in a hostel located in Alma-Atinskaya Street, Moscow. According to preliminary information, the fire resulted in the deaths of eight people. Four people were hospitalized and received all necessary assistance.

A criminal case was launched on the offense prescribed in Part 3, Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence). Direct investigative actions are being carried out to identify all the circumstances and causes of the incident. A fire investigation will be appointed to determine the exact cause of the fire.

The investigation is a subject to control in the Main Investigative Directorate of the IC if Russia.
