The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructs to investigate the circumstances of the demolition and desecration of memorials in a number of European countries

Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia to investigate the circumstances of the desecration of a military memorial in the Werneuchen city, Germany.

According to the information available, the illegal act was committed by a supporter of neo-Nazi beliefs. The actions of the man were caught on video and published on the Internet.

The Head of the Department also instructed his subordinates to launch criminal proceedings related to the demolition of a monument in the Malbork city, Poland and the desecration of mass graves of Soviet soldiers in Estonia.

Mentioned illegal actions are against the interests of Russia in regards to historical memory preservation of the USSR activities during the Second World War and the decisive role in the victory over fascism.

The Head of the Department instructed the investigators to request the Russian Foreign Ministry for the necessary information related to the mentioned crime.
