The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructs to report on the progress of the criminal case investigation on the demolition of historical buildings in St. Petersburg

The Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for the St. Petersburg city continues to investigate a criminal case on abuse of power by the Officials of the Committee for State Control and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Government of St. Petersburg (Part 1, Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Earlier in the media, with reference to representatives of the social movement in St. Petersburg, it was reported that a construction company was preparing to demolish the "Lapin's House" old building. It was built in 1840 and has historical and architectural value. Despite the presence of a restraining court decision, it was previously reported that construction equipment appeared near the building. In order to prevent illegal actions in relation to historical buildings, investigators carried out inspections of other historical objects in the city, and regulations in the field of urban planning were requested too.

The Chairman of the IC of Russia instructed Ms. M.G. Parastaeva, Acting Head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for St. Petersburg, to submit a report on the investigative actions carried out within the criminal case investigation.
