Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, instructed to transfer the criminal case of an accident in Ulyanovskaya oblast, resulting people's deaths, to the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for further comprehensive, prompt and objective investigation.

According to the investigation, on August 21, 2022, 16 people died as a result of a collision between a Mercedes minibus and two trucks. This happened on a section of the M5-Ural highway, between the Novospasskoye and Nikolaevka settlements. Investigators and forensic experts continue to work at the scene of car accident.

The Head of the Investigative Body instructed to identify all the circumstances of the accident that caused people's death, to request and study the documentation on the technical condition of vehicles, as well as to inspect the compliance with the requirements for the safe transportation of people.
