On August 21, 2022, in one of the pre-trial detention centers of Kemerovo oblast, several prisoners hostaged 3 officers of the institution, demanding to provide them with objects and substances banned for storage. Subsequently, all the institutional staff who was held hostaged was released, no one was injured. On this fact, the investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Kemerovo oblast - Kuzbass launched a criminal case in accordance with paragraph "g", Part 2, Article 206 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (capture or holding of a person as a hostage, committed against two or more persons).

The Chairman of the IC of Russia instructed Mr. Bezukladnikov A.S., acting. Head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Kemerovo oblast - Kuzbass, to submit a report on the situation.

The investigation of the criminal case is a subject to control in the Main Investigative Directorate of the Department.
