On social networks, a resident of Novosibirsk turned to the leadership of the Russian Investigative Committee with a request to investigate the circumstances of the demolition of a stele in honor of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War near one of the shopping malls in order to build a hotel on this place. Residents of the city express concern that after dismantling the restored memorial sign may be moved to the outskirts of the city or placed in another unacceptable place by decision of local authorities.
Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, instructed Mr. V.B. Zaripov, Acting Head of the Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Novosibirsk oblast, to organize an inspection based on the arguments set out in the appeal, identify all the circumstances of the dismantling and submit a report on the situation.
The inspection is a subject to control in the Main Investigative Directorate of the Department.
