The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee instructs to submit a report on the results of the inspection concerning the situation with the Pulkovo Observatory territory development in St. Petersburg


Within a criminal investigation into the demolition of cultural heritage sites in St. Petersburg, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, instructed the Main Investigative Directorate, to examine the situation in subjective to the legality of the development of the Pulkovo Observatory territory and to report the results of an earlier inspection, indicating the reasons for the procedural decision.

According to information in open sources, industrial and large-scale housing construction in the park area near the Pulkovo Observatory was banned. At the same time, conflicting decisions regarding building permits have been issued by various courts. The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee instructed to examine the mentioned court decisions and to submit a report on the legal grounds for their adoption in support of the developer. It is important to note that the developer on the Pulkovo Observatory territory is one of the companies of the Setl Group holding. Based on the opinion received and the court decision, this company intends to build a residential complex after the demolition of the Lapin House.

The mentioned above information will be analyzed and evaluated by the investigation, the actions of the responsible persons will be legally assessed.
