Investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, within the investigation of a criminal case, are inspecting the territory in Kuibyshevsky raion, as well as an apartment building and the surrounding area in Kirovsky raion of the Donetsk city, which were shelled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the commanders of the 25th separate airborne brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (contrary to the requirements of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Population of 12.08.1949 and its Additional Protocol, which ban the use of weapons if this may cause excessive loss of life or injuries among civilians) ordered theirs subordinated military personnel to shell Kuibyshevsky raion of Donetsk with artillery weapons of 155 mm caliber. In addition, the commanders of the 68th separate jaeger brigade gave a similar order to shell Kirovsky raion of the city with artillery weapons of 122 mm caliber.

Based on mentioned above, a criminal case was launched against the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in accordance with Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of the civilian population, use of banned means and methods of warfare).

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues.
