The investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Irkutsk oblast launched a criminal case against a 22-year-old resident of the Krasny Yar settlement, Kuytunsky raion, suspected of committing a crime prescribed in Part 2, Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of a juvenile).

According to investigators, on September 16, a young man inflicted bodily harm on his one and a half year old stepson by hitting him against the wall several times. The death of a child occurred at the scene of the crime.

The suspect is currently placed in custody and has confessed to the crime.

It is detected that the young man is registered with a psychiatrist. The issue of imposing pre-trial restrain to him is being decided.

Mr. Bastrykin A.I., Chairman of the Investigative Committee, instructed Mr. Sitnikov A.V., Head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Irkutsk oblast, to report on the initial investigative actions and the circumstances of the crime against the child.

The investigation of the criminal case is a subject to control in the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee.
