The Main Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has finalized the criminal investigation of the case against Mr. Ilnaz Galyaviev. He is accused of committing crimes prescribed in Part 2, Article 105, Part 1, Article 223.1, Part 1, Article 222.1, Part 2, Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder and attempted murder of two or more persons, including minors, committed by generally dangerous way; manufacture and storage of explosives and an explosive device; deliberate destruction and damage to other people's property).
The investigation detected that on May 11, 2021, Mr. Galyaviyev attacked teachers and students of MBOU "Gymnasium No. 175" in the Kazan city, previously he armed himself with a multi-shot hunting rifle, and an explosive device, which he had made short time before. As a result of the shots fired by him and the detonation of an explosive device, 9 people died, including 7 children. In total, more than 600 persons were recognized as victims, among whom there are juveniles.
According to the criminal files, the cause of the tragic events was Mr. Galyaviev's desire to imitate the actions of informal representatives of one of the destructive subcultures, information about which he took from the Internet, copying their behavior during the attack.
In accordance with the conclusion of a comprehensive psychological and psychiatric examination, Mr. Galyaviev was recognized as sane and he is subject to criminal liability. Mr. Galyaviev admitted his guilt in full, he acknowledged of his deed.
The investigation collected a sufficient evidence base, in connection with which the criminal case was sent to resolution for being submitted to court.
