Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, held a brief meeting in Simferopol on the progress of the criminal investigation for the commission of a terrorist act (Part 2, Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) on Crimean bridge.
Mr. Eduard Valeryevich Kaburneev, First Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, reported that an augmented investigation team was created to investigate the criminal case, which included high skilled investigators, forensic experts, experts from the Main Investigative Directorate of the IC and a number of regional divisions. Operational investigative escorting is provided by the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
During the criminal investigation, several inspections of the crime scene were carried out, as well as dozens of investigative searches in a number of regions of Russia. Various fragments were seized from the scene of the crime, which are analyzed by investigators and forensic experts, and the necessary examinations are assigned to them.
Within the criminal investigation, 12 persons were identified who are directly related to the commission of a terrorist act. Evidence obtained so far indicates that the terrorist act was organized by the Special Services of Ukraine.
While conducting a line of investigative actions, the route of movement of the explosive device, camouflaged in rolls with construction polyethylene film, was detected. The originally formed cargo was delivered from the port of Odessa to Bulgaria, then it was transported to Georgia, from there it travelled to Armenia, where it went through the customs clearance procedure, then it returned back to Georgia, and from there it was imported to the Russian Federation.
Investigative actions are being carried out aimed at revealling all the circumstances of the crime and identification other persons involved in it.
