The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee takes part in the 90th session of the Interpol General Assembly in India
Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, took part in the 90th anniversary session of the Interpol General Assembly, which was held in the Republic of India. The meeting in New Delhi was attended by Heads and Representatives of Law Enforcement Agencies from almost 200 member countries of the organization. Mr. Narendra Damodardas Modi, Prime Minister of India, expressed his confidence that the meeting will make a significant contribution to the security and protection of the member countries of the organization. Opening the plenary session, Interpol President Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, in his turn, urged not to politicize the work of Interpol, noting that each of the participating countries should receive equal support.
Interpol is one of the largest international organizations. In the era of globalization, its main task is to coordinate the activities of Law Enforcement Agencies in combatting transnational crime, combatting trafficking people, drugs, weapons, and terrorism.
Traditionally, the focus of the event is concentrated on the issues of increasing the efficiency of joint work. As a result of the discussions, resolutions were adopted to strengthen the capacity of Interpol in countering new types of criminal threats.
The Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia held a number of working meetings with his colleagues from foreign countries, during which they discussed the most pressing issues of Law Enforcement cooperation in the fight against criminal manifestations, as well as the possibility of further strengthening partnerships.
Thus, during the event, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation held talks with Mr. Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, Director of Central Bureau of Investigation of the Republic of India. Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin expressed his readiness for productive cooperation, building up interaction and coordination of efforts in the interests of ensuring peace, security and equitable development both at the regional and global levels in order to counter the challenges that threaten the stability of the world order. The parties highly appreciated the importance of joint work in the field of combatting terrorism and extremist crimes, their financing, corruption, smuggling, economic crimes, illegal banking, ensuring security in the field of information and communication technologies and countering other grave and especially grave crimes, including transnational ones.
In addition, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation held a working meeting with Mr. Hu Bingchen, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Public Security of China. Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin stressed that the ongoing events in the world demonstrate that the international community is in demand in like-minded states on a wide range of issues. The Head of the Department added that crimes in modern society are acquiring non-standard forms, its cross-border character is developing, new challenges and threats are emerging. That is why Law Enforcement Agencies in Russia and China must work together to keep up with the times and consistently adapt to the realities of the modern world. The priority tasks include the formation of common positions and approaches in order to prevent the destruction of the international legal system, which is the basis for combating crimes. Following the meeting, the Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee invited his Chinese colleagues to visit Moscow for a detailed discussion and practical resolution of issues of interaction between the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China.
Noting the highest level of organization of the event, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation stressed that the Interpol General Assembly is an excellent opportunity for Law Enforcement Agencies of various states to exchange expert opinions and their best practices on countering modern challenges and threats faced by the international community.
