Former Deputy Mayor of Sochi and his accessories to crimes are sentenced

The evidence collected by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was recognized as sufficient for sentencing the former First Deputy Head of Sochi, Mr. Anatoly Rykov, the Deputy Head of Sochi, Mr. Sergey Yurin, the Deputy Head of the Legal Department of the city administration, Mr. Andrey Leventyuk, as well as lawyer Mr. Nikolai Grebenyuk. They were found guilty of taking bribes on an especially large scale, acting as organized group (Part 6, Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The investigation and the court established that the mentioned above persons were implementing a corrupt scheme to receive bribes from entrepreneurs of Krasnodar Krai for issuing construction permits and for concluding and extending lease agreements for municipal plots. Thus, between 2015-2018, the accessories repeatedly received illegal rewards for the mentioned actions. The total amount of bribes amounted to 120 million rubles.

One of the bribers, according to the investigation, was the founder of Manufactura-South LLC, Mr. Igor Stroganov. The investigation charged him with a crime prescribed in Part 5, Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe on an especially large scale). He has been convicted before.

In accordance with the verdict, Mr. Rykov was sentenced to 15 years in prison, a fine of 120 million rubles, and a 10-year ban from holding positions in the public service and in local governments. Mr. Sergey Yurin was given a similar punishment. Mr. Andrei Leventyuk was sentenced to 12 years in prison and a fine of 80 million rubles, Mr. Nikolay Grebenyuk - to 8 years in prison and a fine of 40 million rubles. They will serve their sentence in a strict regime penal colony.
