The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee instructed the Main Directorate of the Department, in cooperation with the Russian Foreign Ministry, to organize an inspection on the demolition of the monument in Latvia.

It was reported on social media that a monument to the Fighters against Nazism during the Great Patriotic War was demolished in the Latvian city of Aloja by using heavy equipment.

Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed to conduct an investigation into this fact, as well as to request the necessary information from the Russian Foreign Ministry. A legal assessment will be given to the actions of the persons involved in the incident within the inspection.
