The Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia requests a report on the progress of the criminal investigation launched on the violation of the rights of the Buturlinovsky Orphanage students in Voronezh Oblast

The Investigating Authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Voronezh Oblast immediately organized a pre-investigation inspection based on information received on November 1, 2022 about the violation of the rights of children who are the students of the Federal State-Funded Educational Institution "Buturlinovsky Orphanage for mentally retarded children". Based on the results of the inspection, a decision was made to launch a criminal investigation on the offense of a crime prescribed in paragraphs. "a", "d" Part 2, Article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (torture committed against two or more persons, against a person known to be a juvenile or a person known to be in a helpless state).

Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed Mr. Levit K.E., Head of the Investigative Directorate for Voronezh Oblast, to report on the circumstances of the crime detected within the investigation.

The investigation and its results are the subject to control in the Main Directorate of the Department.
