The Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee detained Mr. Andrey Romanov, Mr. Roman Orlov and Mr. Denis Burakov in the city of St. Petersburg within a criminal investigation. Depending on the role of each, they are suspected of committing crimes prescribed in paragraphs. "a", "g", "i", "k" Part 2, Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder).

According to the investigation, the mentioned above individuals were constituent part of an organized criminal group led by Mr. Aleksey Voevodin and Mr. Dmitry Borovikov, set up to carry out attacks and murders motivated by ethnic hatred.

In December 2003, Mr. Romanov, Mr. Orlov and Mr. Burakov, together with other persons, attacked a passer-by in the area of ​​Novoizmailovsky Prospekt of St. Petersburg, the passer-by had a non-Slavic appearance. Using knives and hammers as instruments of crime, they inflicted multiple bodily injuries on the victim, from which he died.

In addition, according to the investigation, Mr. Romanov took part in the attack committed in November 2003 in a forested area along Iskrovskiy Prospekt in St. Petersburg. Under the direction of Mr. Borovikov, Mr. Romanov and others severely beat the man, inflicting stabbings, including stabbings, from which he died.

The investigation is petitioning the court for the imposing restraint as custody to Mr. Romanov, Mr. Orlov and Mr. Burakov. They will be charged soon.

Mr. Aleksey Voevodin was previously convicted of crimes and is serving a sentence of life imprisonment.
