A verdict is adjudicated to a former Adviser to the Head of the Republic of Dagestan

The evidence collected by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia was recognized by the court as sufficient for sentencing Mr. Osman Makhachev, a former Adviser to the Head of the Republic of Dagestan. He was found guilty of committing a crime prescribed in Part 4, Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed using the official position, on an especially large scale).

It was detected that in 2017, Mr. Makhachev decided to embezzle funds from a candidate for the position of Head of one of the Municipalities for the Republic of Dagestan. He misled him, convincing that he could facilitate the election and appointment to the post of Head of the Municipality for an illegal reward of 23 million rubles, and in the future he would patronize and condone him in his service. Through an intermediary and personally, Mr. Makhachev received the required amount of funds, but he could not fulfill his promises due to the lack of official authority, but he disposed of the funds at his own discretion.

By a verdict, Mr. Makhachev was sentenced to 8 years in prison and a fine of 800 thousand rubles. In addition, he is deprived of the right to hold positions in State Bodies, in local Self-Government Bodies, State and Municipal Institutions related to the performance of organizational, administrative and economic functions, for a period of 3 years.
