The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee instructs to give a legal assessment of the demolition of six steles at the largest Military Memorial in Lithuania

According to reports, the Lithuanian City Authorities have begun dismantling six steles at the largest memorial in the country, located at the Antakalnis military cemetery in Vilnius; they were installed in honor of the Soviet soldiers who fell in the Great Patriotic War. Earlier, the demolition of the steles was prevented by the recommendation of the UN Human Rights Committee, which called for a temporary refrain from further dismantling of monuments to Soviet Soldiers, including the dismantling a memorial in the capital of Lithuania.

Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed to give a legal assessment of the actions of the persons involved, as well as to request the necessary information from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
