"When cannons speak, the muses are silent" - the falsity of this saying has been obvious for a long time. In the most difficult, leaden, war times, art and literature were needed at the front and in the rear, just like bread, like clean water. Of course, the voice of poetry is not as loud as the sounds of explosions and the whistle of flying shells. But it is precisely the quiet, confidential, sincere tone of the poet in the souls of people in wartime that is able to drown out the most cruel and deafening disharmony of war. Everyone needs hope, faith in victory and justice is necessary for both soldiers and civilians. Keeping kindness and compassion in yourself is a prerequisite for victory and future peace. The poems that are now being born in the Donbas are born in the respite between battles and shelling. They are written by those who lose relatives and friends. Their authors saw destroyed houses, blood and mud. But in moments of calm, they compose rhymed lines in memory of departed comrades, in a sincere belief that future generations of Donbas will see their native land as flourishing as it was in peaceful years.
The saying about the collaboration between guns and muses was born from the phrase of Mark Tullius Cicero. And in the original it sounds differently: "When weapons rattle, the laws are silent." Even Cicero was wrong. Now in the Donbas, investigators and forensic experts of the Investigative Committee of Russia are working precisely to ensure that the voice of the law is more weighty and significant than the noise of war. The people, having transformed the quotation into a proverb, equalized the rights of Law and Art. The symbolic fact is that the verses of Donbas poets will be performed not only by actors, journalists - members of the Public Council under the Investigative Committee of Russia, but also by Officers of the Department - investigators, forensic experts. Law and Art are united when it is necessary to protect justice, to defend the triumph of law, the principles of humanism. Our contemporary poets of Donbas are the heirs of the great Russian poets who did not renounce the people in the most difficult times, but they were with them. The epigraph to this project could be the lines written in 1942 by the great Anna Andreevna Akhmatova:
"We know what is now on the scales
And what is happening now.
The hour of courage has struck on our clocks,
And courage will not leave us.
It's not scary to lie dead under the bullets,
It's not bitter to be homeless,
And we will save you, Russian speech,
Great Russian word.
We will carry you free and clean,
And we will give to our grandchildren, and we will save from captivity
Forever."
