Serial criminal sentenced to 19 years in prison in Sevastopol

The evidence collected by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was recognized by the court as sufficient for sentencing a resident of the Sevastopol city. He was found guilty of committing crimes prescribed in Part 1, Paragraph "a", Part 3, Article 131, Part 1, Paragraph "b" Part 2, Paragraph "a" Part 3, Paragraph "b" Part 4, Article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rape, sexual assault).

On the instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, the criminal case was transferred from the territorial investigative bodies to the proceedings of the investigators of the Main Investigative Directorate.

The investigation and the court found that between 2014 and 2020, a local resident committed 17 crimes against sexual freedom and sexual integrity against 5 women and 14 minors, while being in different raions of Sevastopol.

Within the criminal investigation, there were found 18 victims, more than 150 witnesses were interrogated, 30 forensic examinations and more than 900 molecular genetic studies were carried out, the results of which confirmed the involvement of the person in the crimes committed. The evidence was obtained in consequence of the expert capabilities of the Investigative Committee of Russia Bodies and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including a result of a DNA examination of the traces left by the Defendant at the crime scenes.

By a verdict, the criminal was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 19 years with restriction of freedom for a term of 2 years with serving his sentence in a strict regime penal colony.
