The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has finalized the criminal investigation against Mr. Yuri Zakharchevsky, retired judge of the Krasnodar Regional Court. He is accused of committing crimes prescribed in paragraph "b" Part 4, Article 264, Article 125 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules on the road, resulting in the death of a person, if it is associated with leaving the place of its commission, and leaving in endangerment).

According to the investigation, in April 2020 in the city of Krasnodar, the Accused, driving a Toyota, hit a cyclist who was following him in his lane, after which the Accused fled the scene without providing first aid to the victim.

The victim died in a medical facility a few months later from his injuries.

A restraint as ban on certain actions was imposed against Mr. Zakharchevsky, and his property was arrested.

The investigation collected a sufficient evidence base, in connection with which the criminal case with the indictment was transferred to court for being resolved.
