Chairman of the IC of Russia takes part in the Research-to-Practice Conference at Moscow State University


Mr. A.I. Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, took part in the Research-to-Practice Conference "Actual problems of domestic forensic science: current trends", organized by the Department of Forensic Science of the Law Faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. The conference was held via videoconference. Mr. A.K. Golichenkov - Dean of the Law Faculty of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov; Mr. I.M. Komarov - Head of the Department of Forensic Science, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov; Mr. A.I. Sazonov - Head of the Main Forensic Directorate (The Forensic Center) of the Investigative Committee of Russia; Mr. S.V. Malikov - representative of the Office of the President of Russia; Mr. A.N. Savenkov - Director of the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences; as well as other leading scientists and practitioners from Russia and other countries.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee recalled some episodes from the life of the outstanding scientist N.P. Yablokov, noting that he was for him "a senior friend and teacher with whom one could talk about everything: about forensics, about philosophy, about life and about new trends. Mr. Nikolai Pavlovich was a student and successor of the best school of Moscow forensic experts. Then he became a leading scientist who not only headed the department, but was also the recognized leader and ideologist of our Moscow colleagues."

Speaking about the professional experience of Mr. N.P. Yablokov, the Head of the Russian Investigative Committee noted that he "skillfully combined work related to theory and practice in scientific work, while he knew perfectly well what an investigator, forensic specialist, and detective officer needed. This combination of theory and practice is a remarkable property of Nikolai Pavlovich as a forensic scientist."

Mr. A.I. Bastrykin also recollected the participation of Professor Yablokov in the work of the Investigative Committee, where he was a member of the Scientific Advisory Council, and, in particular, his involvement in work of the Moscow Academy of the Russian Investigative Committee. On the positive side, the Chairman noted the progress in the implementation of the cooperation agreement signed between the Investigative Committee and the Moscow Academy of the Russian Investigative Committee with the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University and the Department of Forensic Science of the Faculty of Law. "You help us in the development of both theory and practice, as Professor Yablokov did. We value this friendship, we want to strengthen it, we count on your help in the work of graduate school, and for sure, your support is very important to us," the Head of the Russian Investigative Committee emphasized, addressing colleagues from Moscow State University.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia touched upon the development and improvement of working methods, he noted that the existing Forensic Center "combines our efforts in the development of applied theory, deals with the problems and methods of investigation. Within the work of the Forensic Center, we are trying to shift theoretical knowledge into practice." The Head of the Department explained that currently, it is extremely important to continue research in the field of investigating crimes committed using information technologies. At the same time, "in our endeavors, we rely on the experience and achievements that Nikolai Pavlovich Yablokov brought to our science," Mr. A.I. Bastrykin.

At the end of his speech, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia wished the participants of the conference successful work, good discussions, as well as the achievement of practical and theoretical conclusions and recommendations.
