The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed to report on the progress of the criminal investigation onto the incident occurred on the gas pipeline in Chuvashia

The Investigating Authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Chuvash Republic launched a criminal case on the incident occurred on the "Urengoy - Pomary - Uzhgorod" gas pipeline in accordance with Part 3, Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence).

According to investigators, on December 20, 2022, a gas leak and afflamation arised during the routine work-over of the main Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline on the site located near the Yambakhtino village, Vurnarsky raion, the Chuvash Republic. As a result, three people died and another was injured. He was taken to a medical facility, where he is receiving qualified medical care.

Mr. A.I. Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed Mr. A.V. Poltinin, Head of the Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Chuvash Republic, to report on the set of ongoing investigative actions over the criminal case and the circumstances detected so far.
