The criminal investigation into the murder of former submarine commander Stanislav Rzhitsky has concluded in Krasnodar

Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory have concluded the investigation of the criminal case against Sergey Denisenko, accused of the contract killing of former commander of submarine "Krasnodar" Stanislav Rzhitsky (clauses "b, j, z" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the RF), illegal arms trafficking (Part 4 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the RF), and state treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the RF).

According to the investigation, in October 2022, the accused joined an organized group and was tasked by its leadership with killing the former commander of the submarine "Krasnodar" in connection with his professional activities. To execute the criminal plan, Denisenko conducted thorough preparation: he was monitoring the victim, studying his daily routine, received a silenced pistol from accomplices, and selected the location and date for the murder. Early in the morning of July 10 of last year, the perpetrator, using means of concealment, ambushed the man in a forest park area in the Park of Recreation and Culture named after the 30th Anniversary of Victory in the regional center, where the victim used to jog in the mornings. Choosing a moment when no one else was around, the accused fired at least eight shots at the victim, killing him at the scene, and then fled the scene, leaving the city of Krasnodar.

In the shortest possible time, investigators and forensic investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory, in cooperation with operatives from the regional departments of the FSB of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RF, established Sergey Denisenko's involvement in the crime and his location in the Tuapse district, where he was later detained.

During a search at the suspect's residence, plane tickets were found, indicating his intention to flee the Russian Federation, flying to the Republic of Turkey first and then to Switzerland.

During the investigation, Sergey Denisenko made a confession and, at the investigator's request, was remanded in custody by the court. A comprehensive set of investigative actions was carried out, including a number of forensic examinations, including a medical, criminological, ballistic, genetic, and soil analysis.

The investigation has gathered sufficient evidence to send the criminal case, with an indictment approved by the prosecutor, to the court for trial.
