The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia requested a report on the investigation of the mass food poisoning in the north of Moscow

On July 15, 2024, at least 17 people were admitted to medical facilities with signs of food poisoning from a hostel located on Dmitrovskoye Highway in Moscow.

In connection with this incident, the investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city of Moscow have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the RF (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements for the life and health of consumers).

Investigators, together with Rospotrebnadzor employees, are inspecting the hostel and three nearby fast food outlets. It has been established that the victims had purchased ready-made food from these places shortly before the poisoning. The preliminary diagnosis for those affected is salmonellosis. The owner of one of the mentioned fast food outlets will soon be taken to the investigative department.

A number of expert examinations have been appointed for the criminal case, including product quality control examinations. In addition, the hostel's paperwork and the legality of stay of foreign citizens there are being studied.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee instructed the head of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city of Moscow, A.A. Strizhov, to submit a report on the progress of the criminal investigation and the preliminary established circumstances.

The execution of this order has been placed under the control of the central apparatus of the agency.
