The investigative authorities of the Western Interregional Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia have opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the RF (violation of safety rules for the movement and operation of railway transport).

According to preliminary findings, on July 29, 2024, at an unregulated crossing located at the 185 km railway section between Kotelniki and Gremyachy in the Volgograd region, a passenger train running from Kazan to Adler collided with a KAMAZ truck, resulting in the overturning of several passenger carriages, with injuries reported.

The head of the department instructed P.S. Vymenets, the head of the Western Interregional Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of Russia, to submit a report on the progress of the criminal investigation.
