Criminal case on the murder of journalist Russell Bentley sent to court

The Main Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia has completed the investigation into the criminal case against servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces Vitaly Vansyatsky, Vladislav Agaltsev, Vladimir Bazhin, and Andrey Iordanov. Depending on each individual’s role, they are accused of acting as a group in a way that clearly exceeded their authority, using physical violence and torture that led to the accidental death of journalist Russell Bentley, as well as concealing a particularly serious crime by relocating his remains to another location (Part 5 of Article 286, clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 244, Part 4 of Article 33, and Part 2 of Article 316 of the Criminal Code of the RF).

The accuses s have reviewed the materials of the criminal case. On October 28, 2024, the indictment was approved. The criminal case has been sent to the Donetsk Garrison Military Court for trial.
