A mercenary from the Republic of Moldova who took part in military operations on the side of the Ukrainian armed formations was sentenced in absentia

The evidence gathered by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was deemed sufficient by the court to sentence Stanislav Gibadulin, a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, in absentia. He has been found guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the RF (mercenary activity).

The investigation and court have established that in 2015, Gibadulin arrived in Ukraine at the headquarters of the “Azov” regiment (banned in Russia), where he voluntarily joined this paramilitary group as a mercenary, agreeing to participate in combat for financial compensation against the law enforcement forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He was provided with personal firearms, ammunition, uniforms, and special equipment. At the training base of the “Azov” regiment, Gibadulin received military training, learning weapon handling, strategy, and tactics necessary to participate in the armed conflict. He was also supplied with food and other essential resources for his subsistence.

From March 2015 to July 2019, while on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Gibadulin followed orders from his superiors, participating in combat on the side of Ukrainian armed forces against DPR security forces and Russian Armed Forces personnel, receiving financial compensation for his involvement.

Earlier, at the request of the investigation, the court in absentia chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for Gibadulin.

By the court's verdict, Gibadulin was sentenced in absentia to 7 years of imprisonment. He was placed on the international wanted list.
