The General Investigative Office of the Investigative Committee continues investigating the criminal case started on 10 April 2010 on the plane of the Polish President crash near Smolensk on the grounds of a crime under part 3, article 263 of the Criminal Code (violation of air transportation safety rules, resulting in the death of two or more people).

At the moment more than 40 investigators and criminologists of the Investigative Committee, representatives of the Polish Military Prosecutor’s Office, the police and internal security agencies in Poland are working at the crash scene. Currently, all aircraft fragments, personal belongings, documents, valuables of passengers and other items of interest to the investigation are withdrawn from the scene. A number of different forensic examinations are assigned. All aircraft fragments are being studied with the help of the Interstate Aviation Committee. The scene examination will be completed today. Investigators will continue to work in Smolensk and Moscow.

In addition, in Moscow they continue to identify the bodies and fragments of bodies. To date, 266 forensic investigations are assigned, including genetic, and 76 bodies are identified. Investigators with the participation of Polish and Russian psychologists questioned 84 people as witnesses and victims.
