Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, has taken part in the meeting between Sergey Ivanov, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Bogdan Klich, the Defence Minister of Poland.

The meeting discussed the recent results of for the criminal investigation into the April 10, 2010 crash of the Polish President Tu-154 plane near Smolensk.

Alexander Bastrykin said Bogdan Klich that more than 70 investigators of the Investigative Committee were working at the crash site and more than 50 investigators were working in Moscow. More than 300 different forensic inquiries were conducted. All this made it possible to inspect the scene and to identify the bodies in the shortest possible time.

However, it was pointed out at the meeting that it is still too early to make any particular conclusions. The Russian side is working through all possible versions. “We will continue to cooperate with our Polish counterparts,“ - said Alexander Bastrykin.

In his turn, Bogdan Klich, expressed satisfaction with the criminal investigation, and said “we must do everything we can to find out as soon as possible the causes of this catastrophe. Now it is a major task for the governments of Poland and Russia. This is a joint responsibility of both sides”.

In addition, Bogdan Klich, was invited to the International Aviation Committee, where he can personally see the transcript of crashed aircraft flight recorders.
