Investigation into Domodedovo airport terrorist attack

The General Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee is continuing investigation into the Domodedovo airport terrorist attack committed in January 2011.

The court on the investigation’s appeal has extended the time of custody to the accused Bashir Khamkhoyev, brothers Islam and Ilez Yandiyev, and Akhmed Yevloyev until 24 January 2012. At present the investigation is consolidating the evidence against the accused and is planning to finally charge the gang members. Depending on the role in the crime each of them will be charged with crimes stipulated by articles 205, 209, 210, 222 of the Russian Criminal Code (terrorist attack, banditry, participation in illegal armed group, illegal arm handling).

The court in absentia ordered to charge and put into custody the accused Doku Umarov and Aslan Byutukayev who are currently wanted.

The investigation is also checking the information that the internationally wanted accused Zaurbek Amriyev and Rustam Altemirov were killed in Istanbul in September 2011. The investigation is continued.
