Criminal case is opened over death of five people in fire in Amur region

The Amur region investigative bodies of the Russian Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case against a 52-year old resident of the town of Tynda suspected of the crime under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (murder, or intentional causing of death to two or more persons).

According to the investigation’s version at night 6 May 2012, the suspect set fire to a private house on Khvoynaya street of Tynda, with three women and two little children inside. All of them died in fire.

At present the suspect is detained, and the question of putting him into custody is being discussed, the investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is to be continued.
