Criminal cases opened in Moscow over mass riots and resistance to police

The Central Investigative Department of the Russian investigative Committee for Moscow city has opened criminal cases over the appeals for mass riots heard during a public event on Bolotnaya Ploshchad and due to resistance and causing injuries to the police – the crimes under part 3 of article 212 (mass riots) and part 1 of article 318 of the Russian Criminal Code (use of violence against a representative of the authority).

At present, the circle of persons involved and details on the injured police officers are being established. In the criminal case, the investigators will file a motion to arrest persons who injured the police officers.
