Company duty officer to appear in court in Ryazan region for exceeding official powers

The military investigative department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Ryazan garrison has finished investigating a criminal case against a conscript of military unit 61392 junior sergeant Alexander Kudeykin. He is accused of crimes under paragraphs “a”, “c” of part 3 of article 286 of the Russian Criminal Code (exceeding official powers with the use of violence and with the infliction of grave consequences) and article 344 (violation of internal service regulations).

According to investigation, on 10 October 2011 Kudeykin was on duty. When he woke up at about 6 in the morning he saw that the man on duty was absent. After clarifying all the circumstances Kudeykin found that the man on duty while changing the guard had not made sure that the next man on duty had woken up and had go to sleep at 4 in the morning. As a result the company property and personal belonging of soldiers and sergeants had been unguardedly for more than 2 hours. Having decided to punish the defaulter, Kudeykin beat him several times on the back and stomach which resulted in splenic rupture and its further removal.

The investigation has collected enough evidence, therefore the criminal case with the approved letter of accusation has been forwarded to the court to be considered on merits.
