In Perm territory sentence passed on one of actual heads of café Khromaya Loshad Konstantin Mrykhin

The court has recognized the evidence collected by the investigative bodies of the Russian Investigative Committee for Perm territory as sufficient to sentence one of the actual heads of the café Khromaya Loshad Konstantin Mrykhin. He is convicted for a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (rendering of services which do not meet safety standards entailing by negligence the death of two or more persons).

The investigation and the court have established that Mrykhin acting together with other owners and directors of the club, organized a festive event during which indoor fireworks display was arranged in violation of the fire-safety rules. As a result of using pyrotechnics inside the club a fire started at night on 5 December 2009. Considering that the café had inflammable constructions and was designed with less number of escape exits than required by the fire-safety rules, the fire killed 156 people, 64 sustained heavy damage to health, 9 – sustained average damage and 7 – light damage to health. On 17 December 2009, Mrykhin fled from Russian law enforcement agents. In March 2010, he was put on a federal wanted list, and in May – on an international. In August Konstantin Mrykhin was detained in Barcelona in the Kingdom of Spain by local law enforcement agents and in June 2011 he was extradited to Russia.

The court sentenced Mrykhin to 6.5 years in minimum security facility. Besides, the court ordered Mrykhin to repay more than 200 million rubles of moral and property damage to aggrieved persons.
