An investigative team of the Investigative Committee leaves for the crash scene of Polish President’s plane

April 10 at approximately 10.50 a Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft, carrying 96 people, including the Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife crashed on the outskirts of Pechyorsk of Smolensk region while landing in heavy fog.

Currently, an investigative team of the Investigative Office of the Investigative Committee for the Smolensk region and the Moscow Interregional Investigative Office in Transportation are already working on the scene. The initial investigation has been launched. To provide practical assistance experienced investigators and criminalists of the Investigative Committee central office have left for the crash scene. The circumstances of the incident, information about the dead and injured are being clarified.
