Investigation into An-2 plane crash continued in Tuva Republic

On 22 August 2011, An-2 plane of OOO “Sayansky kedr” (Ltd.) crash landed in Todzhinsky district in the Tuva Republic. There were 8 people aboard, one of them died, the rest were injured. The West-Siberian Transport Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into the crime under part 2 of article 263 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of the rules for traffic safety and operation of the air transportation system which has involved by negligence the death of a person).

According to the investigation, the crash occurred during taking off and the plane fell into the river. The main versions of the crash are: fault conditions of the plane and pilot error.

On 4 September 2011, during examination of the plane the detectives seized fuel samples which were sent to expert examination. At present all necessary investigative actions are under way to determine all circumstances of the crime. Investigation is to be continued.
