Three criminal cases opened into illegal operation of motor vessels and floating café in Voronezh

Moscow Interregional Transport Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into a crime stipulated by part 1 of article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (rendering of services which do not meet safety standards to lives or health of consumers) against illegal operation of 2 motor vessels “Moskva-16” and “M-57” and transformed into a floating café barge “Skedia” of a local company.

According to the investigation, motor vessels “Moskva-16” and “M-57” and transformed into a floating café barge “Skedia” rendered transport services in the Voronezh Reservoir. But the vessels lack or do not have at all salvage or fire equipment, there are no register documents. The replanning of “Moskva-16” was not authorized by competent bodies and the vessel has not passed extra examination on navigation in 2011. Technical state of pusher tug “BT-229” which moves the café “Skedia” is faulty.

At present investigation is under way to determine all circumstances and persons responsible for unauthorized water transportation. All three vessels were withdrawn, sealed and returned to the owner to be safely kept. The use of the vessels is strictly prohibited. The investigation is to be continued.
