Criminal case against public assistant of Stavropol city administration head Leonid Kozlov accused of attempted bribery mediation

The investigative bodies of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Stavropol territory have finished investigation into the criminal case against public assistant of Stavropol city administration head Leonid Kozlov, accused of a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 4 of article 291 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (attempted bribery mediation).

According to investigation, Kozlov, being able to contact personally the Stavropol city administration head Igor Bestuzhy, with whom he had trust-based relations, arranged with him for a bribe of 50 million rubles to allow a citizen to rent an area of 5 ha owned by Stavropol city. Bestuzhy was going to get the money through Kozlov, who was actively negotiating with the real estate agent representing the said citizen.

Kozlov was arrested by the law enforcement officers, when he was receiving part of the bribe. During preliminary investigation Kozlov made a deal with the prosecution, actively helping to investigate his and Bestuzhy’s corruption crimes.

At present, the case with the approved bill of particulars is forwarded to the court to be considered on merits.
