The Dagestan Republic investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case over signs of crimes under article 317 (encroachment on life of a law enforcement official), part 2 of article 222 (illegal acquisition and storage of firearms committed by a group of persons) and part 2 of article 208 of the RF Criminal Code (participation in an illegal armed formation).

According to investigators, on 8 June 2012, at 4 a.m. during search and investigation operations in flat No 49 at No 1 Titova street of Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk the Dagestan Republic FSB Directorate together with the Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk Directorate of MVD blocked members of illegal armed formation. 6 culprits were killed during a skirmish. Law enforcement were not harmed. 2 submachine guns and a lot of cartridge cases to them were discovered at the scene. The killed are being identified.

At present investigation operations are under way to establish all circumstances of the incident. The investigation is to be continued.
