Former officer of MVD Central Office accused of exceeding official powers to appear in court

The Central Federal District investigative bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have completed investigation of a criminal case against a former police operative of the Central Office of the Russia’s Interior Ministry Vladimir Tyurenkov. He is accused of a crime under part 1 of article 286 of the RF Criminal Code (exceeding official powers).

According to investigators, Tyurenkov, carrying out field support of the investigation of a case over attempted murder of a businessman and desiring by any means to solve the crime, arranged wiretapping, control and recording of calls by the citizens not relating to the case. Simultaneously, out of personal interest, he tapped the telephone of his close female acquaintance. By his actions the accused violated the rights of RF citizens to personal secrets and privacy of telephone communications guaranteed by the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

Investigators have collected enough evidence therefore the case with the approved indictment is forwarded to the court to be tried on the merits.
