In criminal case over murder of federal judge of Moscow city court Eduard Chuvashov charges are brought

Main Investigations Department of the Russia’s Investigative Committee within the framework of a criminal case over encroachment on the life of judge of the Moscow city court Eduard Chuvashov charges were brought against Vyacheslav Isayev and Maksim Baklagin who had been detained the day before. They are accused of crimes under paragraphs “g, k” of part 2 of article 105 (murder committed by an organized group of people by reason of ideological hatred and enmity), article 295 (encroachment on the life of a judge participating in connection with the examination of cases or materials in court committed out of revenge for the lawful activity), part 3 of article 222 of the RF Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation and bearing of firearms and ammunition committed by an organized group).

Earlier investigators had arraigned as a suspect Aleksey Korshunov, born in 1983, who was killed by a grenade on 4 October 2011 in the town of Zaporozhye in Ukraine. In connection with the request of legal assistance from Ukrainian side, investigators have carried out a number of investigation operations in the territory of Ukraine. They found in his temporary place of residence among other objects an RF passport on the name of Korshunov, several Ukranian passports with Korshunov’s photographs, two TT pistols and ammunition to them, a pistol silencer and a starter’s gun remade to shot live ammunition.

In addition, concerning aggravated evidence investigators have the grounds to unite into one file a criminal case over encroachment on Chuvashov’s life and a case over the murder of an active participant of anti-fascist movement Ivan Khutorsky.

According to investigators, Isayev, Baklagin, Korshunov and other persons of extremist nationalist views united into an organized group to kill Khutorsky in connection with his active part in anti-fascist movement and his extremely negative attitude to people of radical neo-fascist and nationalist views. On 16 November 2009 Isayev and Baklagin tracking Khutorsky, having made sure that circumstances were favorable to kill him in a stairwell, transmitted to Korshunov through walky-talkies arbitrary signals about his approaching the house. In a stairwell Korshunov shot Khutorsky in the neck from a 7.62 mm revolver.

In addition, the same individuals, on 10 April 2010 committed the murder of judge Chuvashov of Moscow city court out of revenge for his lawful activity of examination of cases or materials in court or the execution of a court's judgement or decision in respect of persons of radical nationalist views and accused of murders. Preparing for the murder Isayev, Baklagin and other persons to study the place of residence, make of the car and routes of the judge Chuvashov secretly followed him and found out his address and the car he had been driving. They also learned the usual time he left for work and got back, the number of a combination lock in his building, studied the schedule of hearings in the Moscow city court. Korshunov using a 7.62 mm revolver shot the judge two times to his head.

Today investigators are requesting the court to arrest the detainees.
