In Krasnodar Territory criminal case initiated into mass deaths of flood

The Krasnodar Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case over mass deaths of people caused by floods in the region on the signs of a crime under part 3 of article 109 of the RF Criminal Code (infliction of death by negligence on two or more people).

At present the death toll in the Krymsk district has reached 134 people. No more bodies have been found in Novorossiysk or Gelendzhik thus accounting for 3 and 9 killed respectfully. According to information of the Investigative Committee 146 people have been killed. 80 more experienced investigators and criminologists of the Southern and North Caucasus Federal Districts investigations departments and the Krasnodar Territory and other regions investigations directorates have set off for the emergency site. They are going to make a undertake examination of incident scenes and determine the amount of damage to more than 4.5 thousand buildings.

Within the framework of the investigation legal evaluation will be given to the actions of the bodies responsible for prevention of emergency situations, preparedness of emergency management forces and facilities. The investigation is being especially controlled by the Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin.
