Progress of investigation of criminal cases over mass deaths of people caused by natural disaster in Krasnodar Territory

The investigation group of the Southern Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continues the investigation of criminal cases initiated over deaths of people caused by floods in Krasnodar Territory on the signs of a crime under part 3 of article 109 of the RF Criminal Code (infliction of death by negligence on two or more people).

In the evening of 10 and in the morning of 11 July two more bodies were found in Krymsk and Krymsk district. Thus, at the moment in Krymsk and Krymsk district the death toll stands at 150 people, among them 48 men and 102 women, including 3 small children and 1 minor. All 150 bodies are identified. All bodies have been examined, forensic medical examinations have been arranged and carried out, burial permissions have been issued for all the bodies. At the moment investigators are checking the information on 8 missing people in Krymsk and Krymsk district.

The number of killed by floods in Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik has not changed and constitutes 11, 3 in Novorossiysk and 9 in Gelendzhik respectively.

Thus, the official number of the killed by the disaster in the Krasnodar Territory is 164 people, 8 are still missing.

Investigators continue examining damaged houses in the most affected Krymsk and Krymsk district (1,400 houses have been examined). The investigation is to be continued, all necessary search and investigation operations to establish all circumstances of the incident are under way.
